We are just about halfway through my 10-day pattern giveaway, and today’s prize is the Ladybug Earflap Hat Pattern.
One of my favorite things to do when designing a pattern is to take a particular style element and turn it into an iconic part of an animal. Just like I turned the bomber hat flap into a face for the penguin hat, I took an earflap hat and turned the earflaps into ladybug wings that can be tied up to resemble a ladybug with little antennae, or worn down to keep ears extra toasty. The pattern includes five sizes to fit everyone.

I would wear it ears up (my hair is long enough to keep my neck warm and it is just too cute otherwise). My daughter is obsessed with “daddyburs” and she calls ladybirds.
